Airside Driving Examination

Airside driving examination is required for airport staff who require airside driving operations. They have to attend the mandatory pre-airside driver examination’s seminar before taking the airside driving examination. Airside Driving Endorsement (“D” Endorsement) will be issued to participants who passed the examination by the Airport Authority. Participants who require for re-certification, they shall take the examination before the expiry of the Airport Restricted Area (ARA) Permit.


All applications have to be made by sponsoring organisations on behalf of their employees. To enrol in the examination, sponsoring organisations shall apply via the AAHK Online Enrolment System no less than two days before the examination date. In case sponsoring organisations cannot submit application via the online system due to technical reasons, they shall download, complete and submit the Application Form AOM/011 “Application for Airside Driving D-Endorsement” to AOM@hkiaaAcademy.com.

Remarks

Airside Driving Handbook paragraph 1.1.1 stated the licence requirements for airport personnel who need to drive in the airside for performing duties shall:

  • Possess a valid Hong Kong Driving Licence
  • Ensure class(es) of vehicles permitted under the drivers’ Hong Kong Driving Licences to include the one(s) that they will drive in the airside
  • Obtain the “D” endorsement, which will be displayed on the holder’s Airport Restricted Area (ARA) Permit. The “D” endorsement is valid for a maximum of 2 years, which shall align with the expiry date of the personnel’s ARA Permit
  • Carry the Hong Kong Driving Licence at all times when driving in the airside
  • Carry the driving endorsement issued by the personnel’s company at all times when driving in the airside
  • Obtain “B” endorsement if driving in the T1 Baggage Hall is required
